When the team at Rutter’s first connected with Identity Wood Products, it started the way many of our strongest partnerships do—at a trade show, with a simple conversation about what was possible. At the time, they were exploring a new design direction and had yet to identify the right architectural cladding solution.

What they did know was what mattered most: they needed durable siding that could withstand demanding environments, remain cost-effective across a large-scale rollout, and still deliver the warmth and authenticity of natural wood.

From the outset, performance was non-negotiable. Rather than relying solely on specifications, the Rutter’s team conducted hands-on, real-world testing. Our engineered wood siding and composite wood siding products were soaked, handled, and pushed beyond typical jobsite conditions to validate long-term durability. The result was a solution that met their standards not just in theory—but in practice.

At the same time, design played an equally critical role. Working closely with our team, Rutter’s developed a custom finish using our prefinished siding, ensuring a consistent, factory-applied coating across every location. The final look delivered a refined, brand-aligned appearance—positioning the exterior as true designer cladding that elevated the customer experience.

Sustainability also influenced the decision-making process. Rutter’s prioritized materials that aligned with their broader environmental goals. Identity Wood Products’ engineered wood siding offered a responsible balance of performance and sourcing, supporting both durability and environmental stewardship.

As initial locations were completed, the partnership continued to evolve. While our Signature Series performed successfully, Rutter’s identified an opportunity to further enhance installation efficiency and long-term aesthetics—particularly by eliminating visible face fastening.

Through continued collaboration, we introduced our Legend Series (rolling out soon!) as a next-generation solution. Featuring extended board lengths and an innovative fastening system, it removes the need for face nails entirely—improving both installation speed and the clean, modern look expected from high-end architectural cladding.

Today, this partnership reflects what defines Identity Wood Products: a commitment to listening, innovating, and building alongside our clients. What began as a search for the right material has evolved into a scalable, forward-thinking solution—delivering durable siding, elevated design, and long-term value as Rutter’s continues to expand.
